Poland No.1 --- Two
works
by
1) Vincent Domanski and Stephen Rich
2) Victor Rachmanoff
The Domanski/Rich book, published in the 1960's, builds on the
Rachmanoff work which was originally presented in 1955.
Both works deal with the created, printing and usage of Poland No.1 from 1858
onward to 1865, when Poland No. 1 was demonetized. Important information
is provided on the usage of Russian stamps used in Poland during this time
period and until 1870. Russian stamps were used in Poland and were cancelled
with Polish numerical cancellations.
Both of these long out of print works are well researched and documented
and still authoritative, as nothing new has been published in 30 years.
As a bonus, a 19 page addition section details the rarity of both Poland and
Russian stamps cancelled with Polish numerical cancellations. Rare information
is provided on other than the standard black cancellations and several towns
where the stamps were re-used to defraud the post office.
