About Me
I, like many of you, began collecting stamps as
a kid. I particularly remember writing to the White House asking for the stamps
from the correspondence to the President. My request was
graciously declined by Harry S. Truman. Eventually, my collection of used
U.S.
stamps was put aside for the pursuit baseball and girls.
In the mid 70's, I again took up collecting.
I started by helping one of my sons earn a scouting badge. He dusted off my old
U.S. collection while I took up collecting Poland, the land of my
ancestors. My son's interest in stamps ended as soon as he earned his badge.
I, however was hooked, expanding to covers and
postal history.
In the late 80's my interest again waned but
for different reasons. The covers I didn't have I either couldn't find or couldn't afford.
At that time, I lived in Philadelphia and was
making plans to move out West with my wife. I gradually began to dispose
of my collections. In 1992 we moved to Scottsdale, Arizona with the balance of
my accumulations and reference material.
Around 2003, as I was cleaning out the den and
found myself face to face with the collection. I offered the material to
each of my four kids, but
no one was interested. So my only option was to "get
rid" of it. I began to take inventory of "the stuff" which
rekindled my passion for the material.
In rapid succession, I bought and sold
material; put together two new exhibits; became an officer in Polonus, The
Polish Philatelic Society; and began my
project of updating, editing, and translating the out of print works of Polish
Philatelic Literature. With my reference material, I also wrote several
new books that are now available along with the updated literature.
My future plans are to continue the search for
additional resources that are not readily available to the English speaking
collector and offer them in an updated and inexpensive format.
